About Powers

Powers Farm Market has been a popular market and seasonal destination since our beginnings as a modest truck stand in the early 1960s. Today, Powers Farm Market is a thriving, beloved community landmark that has flourished over the years. Along with its top-quality, Powers-grown produce, the market is also famous for its delicious baked goods, beautiful flowers & plants and also unique, one-of-a-kind gifts and treasures.

A little bit of History...

In the early to mid 1960’s, with suburbia encroaching ever closer to the 180 acre dairy farm, Roger and Betsy Powers realized the viability of milking cows in Pittsford, New York would be coming to an end.

In 1966 a farm wagon, laden with sweetcorn was towed to the current site on Marsh Road. Fresh, homegrown sweetcorn was an instant success and in 1972, the first log structure was built.

Today, the dairy cows have been replaced be sheep, donkeys, alpacas, goats, chickens, and deer, which the public have access to at the Market. The cow pastures have been replaced by sweetcorn, pumpkins, asparagus, berries, sunflowers and Christmas trees, all available at Powers.

The Farm Market supplements the Farm’s products with flowers, locally crafted gifts and crafts, in-house baked goods, fresh produce from area farms, jams and preserves, hayrides, teepees and farm activities.

Products and activities are orchestrated by family members Dan and Shawn Skelton and Ned and Lisa Powers, seasonally helped by siblings, nieces and nephews. Roger and Betsy Powers stay involved.
